The band delivers some of the longest performances of several songs in the 70-71 period, especially for early 1970. CWTA (12.35) is shorter only to Sept-12 and Dec-22 in 1970 and a handful in 1971 (most in late 1971 - I've not compared it to the 72-73 shows). Embryo (13.30) is beaten only by 70-Nov-14, 71-Nov-5, and 71-Nov-20. Cymbaline (12.51) appears to be the longest performance of this song, w/ a reprise of the ending jam, something I do not remember them ever doing! Interstellar Overdrive (17.55) appears to be the third longest. The other songs are all also above average in terms of length. [If I'm in error on any of the above, please let me know] This is an odd sounding recording. On the one hand, it is a superb sounding recording, with soundboard-like clarity and dynamics. Just great. On the other hand, it tends to distort at times on the lower bass frequencies. This results in a recording that is E- when there is no distortion, but VG when it's heavy, hence the odd VG/E- SQ rating. To me it sounds like the distortion may have been introduced somewhere else than on the master tape (ie somewhere along the transfer process - possibly by an overly aggressive EQ adjustment made by someone or by too high of a signal in the analog>digital conversion). I would not be surprised if a distortion free (or less of it) recording surfaces eventually, though this hypothesis may be totally wrong. Overall, the sound quality is easily listenable and enjoyable.
